Meet Your 2026 Congress Queen, Riata Rouch!
Riata REPRESENTED THE Indiana QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION TO A WINNING TITLe
On Friday, October 9th, Miss Riata Rouch was crowned the 58th All American Quarter Horse Congress Queen representing the Indiana Quarter Horse Association. From Hartford City, Indiana, Riata is the daughter of Rodney and Yvette Rouch.
Riata grew up in the rural town of Hartford City, Indiana, where horses have always been the cornerstone of her life. Competing since before she could walk, Riata has amassed numerous accolades ranging from 4H Championships to World Championship titles across multiple disciplines. Alongside her competitive career, she has dedicated years to leadership within the industry, previously serving as the IQHYA Treasurer, Fundraising Committee Leader, and North East Director, as well as the OMIQHYA Secretary.
After graduating high school with Academic Honors and Cum Laude distinction through the Ivy Tech Community College dual-credit program, Riata chose to continue her education at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She was one of the first graduates of the college's Equine Racetrack Management program, earning her Associate’s Degree with Honors before transitioning into her final year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, where she currently maintains a 3.89 GPA and Dean's List Highest Honors. Upon completing her Master's Degree in Business Administration, she plans to pursue a career in management within the Quarter Horse racing industry and ultimately establish her own therapeutic riding center. Her dedication to service began in high school through Unified Sports, where she was honored with the inaugural Carl Erskine Spirit of Inclusion Award, an experience that directly inspired her vision for therapeutic horsemanship.
Driven by a desire to solve real-world equine problems, Riata is also an accomplished entrepreneur and inventor, securing her first patent at just 15 years old. Her first invention, a medication collar for horses suffering from Equine Recurrent Uveitis, was born out of necessity when her own show pony underwent experimental trials. Today, her patented collar is utilized by premier veterinary institutions, including Purdue University and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her second invention arose from her professional tail braiding business, where she designed a specialized upper tail extension for the hunter under saddle discipline. A success among exhibitors and professional braiders alike, the product is now distributed across the United States and Canada. Beyond her equine businesses, she also channels her entrepreneurial spirit into running her own western resale boutique, The Vegas Vaquera.
Complementing her professional drives, Riata is deeply committed to community service. She regularly coordinates local community blood drives to raise scholarship money for high school seniors, promotes annual Teddy Bear Tosses for children in need, volunteers at regional spay and neuter clinics, and serves as a guest speaker and clinician for 4H youth events. Throughout her reign as the Indiana Quarter Horse Association Queen, Riata’s core mission has been to engage, educate, and inspire the next generation of equestrians. To achieve this, she introduced interactive youth activity stations at association shows. In order to encourage participation and increase interest in AQHA, she took the initiative to create a contest and secure sponsors to provide an opportunity for 4H members to win a chance to compete, with all expenses paid, at an AQHA Show. Now, as the 2026 All American Quarter Horse Congress Queen, Riata looks forward to using this platform to expand these connections, continuing to advocate for the equine industry through her lifelong values of leadership, passion, and inclusion.
Riata looks forward to an incredible year representing the industry she loves. She is eager to travel across the country and share her passion for the American Quarter Horse. Whether she’s presenting awards, attending events, or cheering from the rail, Riata hopes to inspire others to pursue their goals with dedication and heart. She is deeply honored to serve as an ambassador for AQHA and is excited for all the opportunities this year will bring.
